Telegram voice message to text on PC
Short answer: Telegram itself converts voice messages to text for Premium users. Click the transcribe button next to a voice message in Telegram Desktop (Premium needed per account). Without Premium you have to download the audio and run it through a speech-to-text tool. If you handle customer voice notes on several accounts, TGDesk (coming soon) transcribes them in a unified inbox and makes them searchable.
Option 1: Telegram Premium voice-to-text
Telegram Desktop's changelog lists "Premium users can now convert both voice messages and video messages into text". In a chat, a small "→A" button appears next to voice messages; click it to see the transcript beneath.
- Pros: official, one click, works on phone and desktop.
- Cons: requires Premium on each account (Premium is per account), and transcripts are per chat, not searchable across accounts.
Option 2: manual transcription
- Right-click the voice message → Save As. Telegram voice notes are OGG/Opus audio.
- Open it in a speech-to-text tool you trust (an offline Whisper app, or your OS dictation tools via playback).
- Copy the text back.
Works for occasional messages; too slow for daily support.
Option 3: TGDesk
TGDesk includes voice-to-text for teams that receive voice notes from customers:
- Automatic transcripts of incoming voice and audio messages, shown in the chat.
- Searchable across all your Telegram accounts, alongside text and OCR results.
- Works with translation: a voice note in another language can be transcribed, then translated.
- Automation: rules can react to transcript content (for example "voice transcript contains refund").
- Your choice of engine: a local engine or a transcription endpoint you configure; off until enabled per account.
TGDesk is a paid desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux, coming soon, with a mobile app planned. No public download yet; it is independent of Telegram.
