Rambox and Ferdium alternatives for multiple Telegram accounts
Short answer: Rambox and Ferdium are good if Telegram is one of many web apps you juggle: they put Telegram Web, Gmail, Slack and others into tabs, and both let you add the same app several times for several accounts. If Telegram is your main work channel, the weakness is that each account is still its own tab: there is no single list of unread chats across accounts, no search across accounts, and no image text recognition. A Telegram-specific desktop manager such as TGDesk (coming soon) is built around those gaps.

Rambox: strong general workspace, tab per account
Rambox is aimed at people who live in many web apps. Its features page highlights workspaces, session management, multi-login, focus mode, notification control and tile view. For Telegram, you add Telegram Web as an app and add more instances for more accounts. The free Basic plan allows up to 2 instances per app; Pro unlocks unlimited instances and multi-login.
Where it fits: you use Telegram alongside many other tools and want one window for all of them.
Where it falls short for Telegram-heavy work: every account is a separate web page with its own unread badge. There is no merged list of "chats waiting for a reply" across accounts, and translation and OCR are not listed on its feature page.
Ferdium: free and open source, with a translator
Ferdium (the community successor of Franz and Ferdi) works the same way: add Telegram Web as a service, add it again for another account, and group services into workspaces. It can be used without an account, hibernates idle services to save resources, and includes a built-in translator for selected text using Google or LibreTranslate.
Where it fits: you want a free, open-source container for many web apps and occasional translation of a message.
Where it falls short: still one tab per Telegram account, no cross-account inbox or search, and OCR is not listed.
Telegram Desktop itself
Before installing anything, remember the official app handles 3 accounts per installation (more with Premium) and offers message translation to all users, with automatic whole-chat translation for Premium subscribers. For two or three accounts this is often enough. See Telegram Desktop vs TGDesk for a closer comparison.
TGDesk: built only for Telegram accounts
TGDesk is a native desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux that we are building for people who answer customers from several Telegram accounts. Rather than wrapping Telegram Web, it runs each account as its own encrypted session and puts all chats into one inbox.
- Unified inbox with unread, needs-reply and human-takeover filters across every account.
- Search across all accounts over messages stored locally, including short Chinese queries.
- Message translation shown under the original text, plus a "translate draft" button for replies. The default engine (Argos Translate) runs on your computer; cloud engines stay off until you enable them, and a translated draft is never sent automatically.
- Text in images (OCR): text in incoming photos and image documents becomes searchable and usable in automation rules. The default engine runs locally without uploading images.
- Migrate logins you already use from Telegram Desktop folders, opened read-only, into an encrypted vault.
- AI reply drafts with your own model endpoint and knowledge base; auto-reply is off per account until you enable it.
It has no bulk-messaging or scraping tools and waits out Telegram's rate limits. TGDesk is a paid product, coming soon, with no public download yet. It is independent and not affiliated with Telegram, Rambox or Ferdium.
Which should you choose?
- Many different web apps, Telegram is one of them: Rambox or Ferdium.
- Two or three Telegram accounts: Telegram Desktop's built-in account switcher.
- Several Telegram accounts with customers writing in, often in other languages or with screenshots: a Telegram-specific manager with a unified inbox, translation and OCR, which is what TGDesk is designed to be.
FAQ
Can Rambox run several Telegram accounts?
Yes. Rambox's pricing page lists up to 2 instances per app on the free Basic plan and unlimited instances plus multi-login on Pro ($7/month as listed in October 2026). Each instance is a separate Telegram Web session in its own tab.
Does Ferdium translate messages?
Yes. Ferdium has a built-in translator: select text, right-click and choose translate, using Google or Ferdium Translator (LibreTranslate). It translates selected text rather than whole chats automatically.
Do Rambox or Ferdium read text in images (OCR)?
Neither lists OCR on its official feature pages as of October 2026.
