Telegram multiple accounts limit: how many accounts can you have?

Updated · TGDesk

Short answer: each official Telegram app lets you sign in to 3 accounts at once and switch between them without logging out. Telegram Premium increases this: Telegram's own Premium announcement says subscribers can add a fourth account to any Telegram app, and recent versions of Telegram Desktop add one slot for each signed-in Premium account. Every account needs its own phone number. The limit applies to one app installation, not to you as a person or to your computer.

Sources: Telegram Premium announcement, Premium FAQ (October 2026). Telegram's FAQ says prices vary by region and store, local pricing depends on your number's country and payment method, and a single Apple ID or Google account can hold only one ongoing subscription. At launch in June 2022, Premium was widely reported at $4.99/month in the US. TGDesk mobile details are a roadmap, not a shipped product.

That is the whole rule in one paragraph. The rest of this page explains what the limit actually counts, where people get confused, and the legitimate ways to work with more accounts.

Where the 3-account limit comes from

Telegram added multiple accounts to its Android app in 2017 with the wording "you can add up to three accounts with different phone numbers," and the other official apps followed with the same number. Telegram's FAQ confirms the general principle: each phone number is a separate account, and "it is possible to log in to one Telegram app with several different accounts at once." When Telegram Premium launched in June 2022, extra account slots were one of the listed perks.

In practice today:

Premium is billed per account. Telegram's Premium FAQ is explicit that "each account requires its own subscription," so subscribing on one account does not give Premium features to the others.

What the limit does not count

The slot limit is about how many accounts one copy of the app keeps signed in. It is not:

Other limits people mistake for the account limit

When people say "Telegram limited my account," they often mean something different from the slot cap:

When you need more than 3 accounts

There are honest reasons to run more accounts than one app holds: a support team with a regional account per market, an agency that answers on behalf of several clients, or a shop with separate sales and after-sales numbers. The options:

  1. Premium on the accounts you use most. The simplest way to get one or more extra slots in the same app.
  2. Separate Telegram Desktop profiles. Each profile is another copy of the app with its own data folder and three more slots. Free, but every profile is another window.
  3. A multi-account manager. Tools in this category run each account as a separate session and gather all chats in one place. How many you can run depends on your computer and on Telegram's own rules for each account.

We are building TGDesk for the third case: a local-first desktop app that keeps each account's session encrypted on your own machine and shows every account's chats in one inbox, with idle accounts parked in low-resource states. It does not create accounts and does not bypass Telegram's limits; each account is still a normal login under Telegram's rules. TGDesk is a paid app that is coming soon and is not yet available to download.

A sensible way to plan accounts

Before adding a fourth or fifth account, ask what each account is for. Accounts with a clear purpose (personal, work, one per client or market) are easy to keep healthy: people expect to hear from them and rarely report them. Accounts created to reach more strangers are the ones that collect spam reports and restrictions, and no tool fixes that. If you are planning a setup with many accounts, read how to manage many Telegram accounts safely first.

FAQ

How many Telegram accounts can I have?

There is no published limit on how many accounts one person may own, but each account needs its own phone number. Each official Telegram app holds three accounts at once; Premium adds extra slots.

Does Telegram Premium increase the account limit?

Yes. Telegram's Premium launch announcement said subscribers can add a fourth account to any Telegram app. Recent Telegram Desktop versions count one extra slot per signed-in Premium account, so check your app version.

Can two Telegram accounts use one phone number?

No. One phone number is one Telegram account. You can move an account to a new number in Settings, but you cannot attach two accounts to the same number.

Is the limit per device or per app?

Per app installation. A second app, such as a second copy of Telegram Desktop with its own data folder, starts with its own slots.
